Travel Day 1

Through hours of dark through mist and fog, small town flea markets that made me ooo and aaa and say we have to come back here!! Through corn fields and picking two colored cherries from the same tree. Through traffic jams and sky scrapers, finally we reached our destination. Celebrated with wine and our favorite roasted veggie and goat cheese pizza in bed and fell asleep with tears in my eyes because tomorrow I get to see my family!

Less than 7 days...

In less than 7 days we will be on our way across the Atlantic, holding hands as we take off, those first few weightless moments as the wheels leave the runway, drinking wine from tiny airplane bottles, looking at each other and giggling cause we have three whole weeks of having to do nothing. Just enjoy each other and our family and being taken care of. Away from everything that reminds me of tests and pills and doors I’ve cried behind.

In 7 days I’ll be doing this with my toes in white sand and the sound of the ocean tickling the shore, Copenhagen on the horizon and my family by my side.

Those few weightless moments, they are so close!

Hummingbirds, badminton and perfection

We are spending more and more time outside, grabbing every chance at feeling the sun on our backs. Squinting at the glittering lake and watching the hummingbirds hover from flower to flower. I love the feeling of warm grass in the morning, baptized in those first rays as the sun moves over the highest tops of the tall pines. We long for summer for so many months and suddenly it’s here and all around us and wonderful and very, very short. Last night we played badminton with friends and I think I really laughed for the first time in months. One of those real laughs that make you throw your head back and your belly hurt.  And for a few moments everything is perfect.
